Similar to the Gothic and Transcendental impulses of Romanticism, Existentialism can be divided into dual impulses, though not as aptly named. I knew this to be a fact of existentialism, given its flexible nature, but didn’t realize for myself until I read Camus’ Happy Death and Sartre’s Nausea consecutively.
