Poem of the Day: Feb. 21

Ted Kooser was United States Poet Laureate from 2004 to 2006 and is the author of eleven poetry collections, including Delights & Shadows (Copper Canyon Press, 2004), which won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.

As Poet Laureate he created the ‘American Life in Poetry,’ a free weekly column for newspapers, featuring a poem by a contemporary American writer. ‘I wanted to show the people who read newspapers that poetry can be for them, can give them a chuckle or an insight.’”

This week’s poem: Wonderful. Consider, amidst this happiness, an intimation of loss.
